I have lately gone back to making my own bread, including boules with hard crusts. This exposed the inadequacy of my existing bread knives. This one was well reviewed and at a very reasonable price, so I decided to try it. I'm glad I did. It is, as others have pointed out, very sharp, and cuts through thick crusty bread with ease. Unlike other bread knives, the thin blade doesn't smash the bread down when you cut it. I can't yet speak to its durability, but it certainly works well for the job for which it was designed.
